Regenerating an area is about more than just bricks and motar. We believe it's a fantastic opportunity to bring real social and economic change to our communities. 

Built on the site of the former Garrick Hospital in Stranraer, The Garrick is for young people who are motivated to volunteer, study or work.

This will be Dumfries & Galloway's very first accommodation and employment hub and will provide a wealth of training, employment and volunteering opportunities for young people.

Through dedicated support, they will be able to develop independent living skills and shape their future careers.

The Garrick is an intergenerational site and will be complemented by other homes and community services.

Alongside the accommodation and employment hub, there will be 12 dementia-friendly designed flats, six adapted bungalows, a new access road, 37 parking spaces and attractive landscaping to maximise biodiversity.

By providing quality homes, promoting social cohesion and self-dependence, we believe that The Garrick can make a real difference to the lives of our tenants and those in the wider community.

The Garrick will also provide a community café space for local people and will operate as a Hub for Loreburn’s broader business activities. Public areas within the employment hub will be available for the whole community to use, whether that be for community groups or workplace workshops. Meeting rooms and desks will also be available for rent.

The building space is entirely flexible - if the needs of the community change, the site can be adapted accordingly.

The Garrick is an innovative and bold development. Through our shared passion and vision with our project partners, we’ll have a hand in transforming the lives of young people in the West of the Dumfries & Galloway region.

To ensure that the project meets both tenant and community needs, the development of The Garrick has been supported by The Hollywood Trust, The Clothworkers’ Foundation, Kilgallioch Community Fund and Dumfries and Galloway Council.
